Bio
I earned my PhD from Stanford University in Iberian And Latin American Cultures in 2012. I am a scholar and professor of Iberian literature and culture. My research draws lines between myth studies, psychology and neurology, spirituality and religion, Iberian history, and humanistic anthropology. I am currently engaged in a long-term research project on the Camino de Santiago.
My photography has come as a natural outgrowth of my research, teaching, and leadership of study abroad trips. Through it, I seek to understand and celebrate the beauty of both world -- both close to home and in far-flung corners of the world.
In my free time I enjoy running and spending time with my wife Betty and our five children. I have been a member of the Department of Spanish at Hillsdale College since 2017.
